Traceability 4.0
Traceability, in addition to being a legal requirement in some sectors, represents a valid support for companies operating in the manufacturing sector as it allows them to manage the entire production chain efficiently and transparently. This is possible by creating a transversal link between all the elements of an order (raw materials, semi-finished products, finished products, machines, equipment and people) in order to describe the entire path of the production chain.
It’s appropriate to distinguish the tracking , which we can define as the ability to describe the path of a raw material or a production lot within the production chain, from tracing, which is instead the ability to reconstruct a backwards the whole story starting with the finished product.
Companies therefore need a traceability system capable of:
-
register the incoming raw materials by associating each of them with an identification code (batch ID) which can be quickly traced back when non-conformities occur;
-
monitor the transformation processes of raw materials in order to know the progress of production and identify any anomalies present in the process;
-
check the quality of the outgoing semi-finished products. In this case, the system imports the data relating to the control method adopted, the control tools used and the dates during which these procedures were carried out in order to guarantee the backward path (traceability) and the possibility of identifying the cause of a non-compliance.
Nice to meet you, jpiano®
Jpiano® is an advanced software tool that allows, through digitization, to control and optimize every aspect of the production process. Its implementation allows to manage a traceability of orders and a complete traceability system.
Jpiano® is able to:
-
identify people, materials, containers, equipment through barcodes, QR codes, RFID, NFC, magnetic badges, beacons and IoT devices
-
perform acceptance checks and associate the supplier’s batch code with a unique company code
-
maintain a link between people, processes, materials, raw, semi-finished and finished products;
-
assign a unique code to the semi-finished products and products contained in each handling unit
-
store the information relating to the shipment of each box, until acceptance by the customer
-
trace all the elements of the production flow starting from the serial numbers produced.
